New Remote 2.1.1
Posted on Mar 16th 2011 by pieceofsummer.
Apple just released a new version of Remote app.
They’ve fixed a bug with numerous server-info queries on each reconnect, so it connects really fast now. “Back” button doesn’t blink anymore when changing volume or pressing buttons.
TouchRemote is also updated to fix some bugs and add some features.

With the new updates (Apple Remote & TouchRemote) I can only play music via playlists; Albums and Artists navigate fine but when I select any songs, nothing happens.

hmm, why isnt your great plugin featured on the foobar site, so i can update it within the app when there are new versions?
would be great! love to see this

Wayne, it works for me (and for other 70 people downloaded the update I hope), so it must be something on your side. Please provide a console log and some more details.
Tom, I asked Peter Pawlowski on how to make use of built-in updates some time ago, but still got no reply from him.

hmm, hopefully he will reply this time and tell us what’s his point…
the plugin devolopment seems to be very active, but i dont know if there are any requirement to be listed there to use the build in update mechanism?

Pieceofsummer, can you tell me how to create and find the console log?
Also, to be safe, can you also tell me the proper way to install fooRemote in case I made an error when updating it?
Thanks in advance,
Wayne

Well, I went back to the previous version I had (0.2.2.1) and the problem is fixed.
Also noticed that I once again have fine control over scrolling within each letter of the alphabet. I thought it was the new version of Remote that limited the scrolling to just the beginning of each letter, but it now looks like it was TouchRemote.

Wayne, if you were using the old (before 0.2.4) version of TouchRemote, you’d delete “TouchRemote Selection” playlist after migrating to the new version. That is described in FAQ.
Letter grouping and scrolling also was added in version 0.2.4. There’s nothing wrong with it, it’s just how it works.
If you want fine scrolling, scroll the list somewhere in the center of the screen. If you want to jump quickly to some letter, tap it on the right side of the screen.

Hi,
Everything works perfectly but I can’t search by Genre. Is there a setting that needs to be done?
Thanks

I just sent in another $10 donation for you Pieceofsummer.
Thanks again for the amazing component.
TO ALL WHO USE THIS COMPONENT: PLEASE send in a small donation. YOU KNOW you would buy this app in a heartbeat at the iTunes store if it was available. Dont take his hard work for granted.
The more donations, the more likely Pieceofsummer continues to develop and support this indispensable Foobar remote!
Cheers,
Patrick

Has anyone exprienced this app not connecting after upgrading to IOS 4.3.2?Worked flawlessly with 4.1.2 and the latest version of remote and Touchremote at this time
pieceofsummer on May 2nd, 2011 at 15:37
Chau, can’t confirm. Seems working fine with iOS 4.3.2 (on iPhone 4) and Remote 2.1.1.
Please enable request logging and attach console output file to your report.

It’s working again. Thanks anyway. I wonder if jailbreaking and disabling multitasking makes a difference.
