foo_touchremote 0.0.5 alpha

First public build. No library support, no search, possibly buggy :)

Great to hear something like this is in development! If you manage to get the app working somewhat like the iPhone app for iTunes, I (and probably many others) would be glad to pay for the app once available on the app store. :)

I downloaded the plugin but I get an error message as soon as I open foobar2000 saying that the plugin was developed for another version of foobar. I´m running 0.9.6.9, any ideas about what might be wrong?

This is the error message I get:

    Failed to load DLL: foo_touchremote.dll
Reason: This component is missing a required dependency, or was made for different version of foobar2000.

Diego, most likely you don’t have Bonjour installed.

Apparently it was that, but now when I try to configure it, it asks for a “Remote app”. Where can I get that? I’m using an Ipod Touch.

Download it from the AppStore for free.

Great!! I got it work :D . It works flawlessly, but a good thing would be to be able to be able to browse foobar’s music library, I don’t know if that’s too hard.

Anyway, excellent work, keep it up!

any updates? it’s already on the “problematic plugins” list in foobar :-(

    foo_touchremote.dll : iPhone Remote support 0.0.7.1
    Reason: Repeated crash reports.

Confirmed working just fine here. I look forward to see it growing new features, though it already does most of what I need it to do (except rating songs ;) ).

It does crash the Remote app when playing songs with very large cover art. I presume you’re not scaling the image before sending it over. It broke with a 3000×3000 image (no idea why I have an image this big, actually, but yeah, there you go). This is on an iPod Touch, not an iPhone.

VERRRRY NICE!!!!! I just tried while home for lunch. Didn’t spend much time with it. I successfully paired with Foobar on my XP laptop.

THANKS SO MUCH for developing this! I cannot begin to express my excitement to see this furthered.

I only noticed one general bug. While on “Now Playing” screen, the album art does not refresh unless the song finishes naturally, on its own. If I use the “Next” button, the next song plays, the timebar and description update, but the album art does not.

Cant wait to try it more tonight on my main machine etc….

    Edit to the above….

Album art is working fine. It wasnt refreshing because there was no saved art for those not refreshing. Perhaps there could be a default “no available art” .jpg?

This is very nice, ultra slick, wonderful in every way.

I am currently using an http_control component along with a nice template. This and your Remote app work essentially the same. That is until you add library viewing with artist, album etc…

Thanks again for this. And yes… I would happily pay $20 for this via paypal if you can successfully implement the other features the standard Remote App has.

    Cheers!

    Thanks for report, Patrick.
I’m aware of that bug with album art, it would be fixed in next release.
I’m planning to release a next version on the New Year vacation.

FYI, the library/playlist was working with 80,000+ tracks. It takes a while to load but worked. I was amazed.

I just dropped you $5 on your paypal link. It isnt much but I will continue to flow a few dollars your way for your efforts. I encourage others to do the same.

    Hi
It is really great that you have started to implement the support for the Apple Remote. Looking forward to see the next version of the plug-in.
