iPhone Remote App + foobar2000

iTunes has a brilliant feature to browse local library and control playback using iPhone and WiFi. The only thing is that I like foobar, not iTunes. The question is why not to use a free iPhone client to control it as well?..

So I’m starting a foo_touchremote project to make love between foobar and iPhone running Remote. Stay tuned!

This is fantastic news! I realise that this will take some time, but it’s reassuring to know someone is working on a project like this. If you are able to get this working like the iTunes remote I will gladly donate or pay for the app.

That sounds awesome. I very much look forward to this. I also would be willing to donate for this.

Hmm, could you explain in a bit more detail how I install this?

Jalla, after you unpacked this plugin to foobar’s “components” directory, just install a Remote application for iTunes on your iPhone or iPod and then perform pairing. Piece of cake! :)

Ah, that easy. Thanks, it’s working great now! I’m really looking forward to more functionality being added, but even now it’s few functions are working great. Thanks so much for dedicating your time to this project!

Thanks for the tool, first of all.

Little issue I am having: pairing works fine, IP address gets resolved, login is accepted, however then the Ipod touch just loads and loads and loads forever. the remote never shows. I am using the new foobar 1.0. Could this cause an issue? (btw,
the remote works fine with monkeytunes)

Does anyone know if this would be possible: start up the PC, run foobar 2000 as a windows service, i.e. without needing to log in as a user in windows, and use remote? This would be awesome, cause once I log into the PC running foobar, I might as well control foobar from there, not the ipod/iphone.
