Hey, is there any chance of having the colours user configurable?
For example, I’d prefer the progress bar to be blue instead of green because, for me, the green one is typically used for a slightly different class of actions – eg. moving files about, downloading files, burning a CD and so forth. Just my thoughts.
Hi, I love the plugin
But I have some problem about the image shown in the tastbar.
Can I set the image path myself.
because my artist and album imgage have a different set
Thank you all the same for such beautiful plugin
just,
currently there’s no way to change image path and filename mask. Images are extracted using foobar’s integrated artwork service, and it is not customizable.
I really believe that artwork (and its customization as well) must be supported at core level, and dozen of plugins shouldn’t implement their own wheels the way they like.
So you’d better ask Peter to extend core functionality than me to add one more artwork settings page.
The inegrated ‘online troubleshouter’ indicates the following:
The following components found on your system are known to be problematic and should be either uninstalled or updated to their latest versions:
foo_w7shell.dll : Windows 7 integration 0.2.8.1
Reason: Repeated crash reports.
Any idea why it did not crash on my yet? Will it be updated?
I have no idea why it says so Mine doesn’t tells anything like this.
0.2.8.1 is the current version, it works quite stable and there’s nothing to update at the moment (well, there are a few issues to fix, but all they are minor).
Tried enabling/re-enabling to no avail. Interestingly, before adding the component, but after reinstalling FB2K, the jump list still had those options (and the icons were missing) (Win7 RC Build 7100). Strange.
Apparently in Win7 you have to use a command prompt to truly delete and restore the icon cache. This worked for me:
Previous versions of Windows had a feature in “TweakUI” to rebuild the icon cache. Since Vista doesn’t have TweakUI, you need to find other ways to rebuild the icon cache.
Make sure you have Command Prompt and Task Manager open.
Have no idea where the current playlist should be displayed
Artist and title are configured in foobar’s window title format and have nothing to do with this plugin.
I seem to have lost the ability to display the artwork. Anyone else have this problem? Sometimes it would glitch and display the album offset to the left with space to the right but now when hovering over the foobar icon the album art doesn’t appear
Sparanoid, thanks for feedback.
Are you sure the plugin is an issue? Actually I didn’t tested it on a large amount of songs, but I don’t see any reason for it running so slow.
I’ll try to repro this behavior when I have a chance. And could you please also try this on an empty foobar configuration just with the only foo_w7shell installed?
skitchbeatz, the glitch with artwork centering is actually a Windows bug.
Try turning on the foobar’s window transparency (it may stay fully opaque, only the fact of transparency matters), it should almost completely remove that strange glitch.
And what’s with the ability to display artwork? Are there some messages in console?
I tried a fresh portable installation, added this componet, then created a new blank playlist, it’s lagged about 1 sec, and added about 6000 tracks, quit foobar and restarted, it’s slow
As maddox said, it would be nice, if the artist and title of the currently played track was written on the preview thumbnails, like Win7shell does for Winamp. If it did, I would switch from Winamp to foobar2000
I’m not going to write artist, title or other things on a preview thumbnail. It’s not a competition with win7shell and I have no desire for supporting everything. I have my own vision on how it should look and work, and switching users from other players to foobar2000 is not by goal
Hi. I have serious problems with plugin. With w7shell foobar takes around 2 minutes to start (1-2 sec without it). If I remove all playlist (~30 of them) start time becomes reasonable. Adding/removing playlist takes 1-2 seconds (instant without w7shell).
Win7×64, foobar2000 0.9.6.9 (though it is same for the latest beta).
With foobar 1.0 support was added for custom artwork paths. I’ve set up this feature to work with my own collection (in my case, the artwork filename is always ‘(‘%date%’)’ %album%.jpg) and it works fine in foobar. However, the artwork still doesn’t show up in the Win7 shell with this plugin.
Could you perhaps update it to take advantage of this new feature in foobar 1.0?

No, colors are set depending on system theme, not on application preferences.

Very nice work! Thanks!

Hi, this plugin is very good!
I would sugest a feature.
If you look at wlm you can close the main window and it remains on taskbar, but when doing alt+Tab it doesnt show, because the window is closed.
So i sugest the same feature to this plugin. this way i would not have my alt+tab filled with so many stuff

Yeah strange. Thats what I wanted to say. It did not crash on me! I’m using the latest version of foobar2000 and the foo_w7shell?
This is the direct link btw

It seems you can ask peter for the crashlogs he automatically receives.

Huge fan of this component. One issue, after uninstalling then reinstalling FB2K and adding the win7 component, the jumplist icons for “play” and “preferences” seem to be missing! http://lh5.ggpht.com/_xppQ1K5WVkI/Stjdx5V5noI/AAAAAAAAASI/9F8V3XH3i7I/foo_w7_screenshot.jpg

paa,
try disabling them in plugin settings and then enabling again.

paa,
then you need to clean system icon cache. Read a manual to do this.
paa on October 20th, 2009 at 23:57
Tried the following, still the same problem:
Deleted icon cache, restarted, ran FB2K, same problem.
Removed Win7 FB2K component, ran FB2K, closed it, deleted icon cache, restarted, added component, ran FB2K, same problem.
A bit of a mystery. I appreciate your continued advice! Thanks.

FYI, SOLVED:

Make sure you have Command Prompt and Task Manager open.
Go to your local settings folder, such as:
C:\Users\YourName\AppData\Local>
Type “attrib -h iconcache.db” (without quotes)
Use Task Manager to kill Explorer.exe
Delete the IconCache.db file.
Type “explorer” to re-load Explorer.
Windows should re-build the icon cache.

Plugins works good so far, but on my system the neither the current track info (artist – title) nor the current playlist is displayed.

In the picture on your page the artist and title is shown above the thumbnail. On my systems there is nothing displayed above the thumb.
Sparanoid on November 16th, 2009 at 07:49
starting foobar2k takes me about 5 secs now, before installing this component it starts just in a sec. in using windows 7 64-bit.
Sparanoid on November 16th, 2009 at 07:59
Changing settings in pref. panel is also laggy, about 1 sec to change any checkbox
Sparanoid on November 16th, 2009 at 08:01
Well i just deleted all my playlists (about 3500 tracks) and everything seems better now.
