foo_w7shell 0.2.8

You wanted Aero Peek and Flip3D? Well, you’ve got it.

Personally I think these features are useless for foobar. And a bit buggy:

  • Image of the same size as thumbnail looks ugly in Flip3D (I have no idea why MS decided to show thumbnail instead of live preview there).
  • Window must to be shown at least once to make Aero Peek working. It’s a common issue for any app.
  • Too frequent painting of a live preview image drains a lot of CPU, so it is made not so “live” as it should.
  • When window is maximized, there are some glitches with its frame size in Peek mode.

Blame MS for all that stuff :)

P.S. I’m still on RC, so someone should test it on RTM. I wanna to know if something changed.

    I’m using an RTM x64 Win7.

    Aero peek is working fine.
Flip 3D is just showing an ugly foobar icon instead of a window preview no matter how many times i maximize, restore, show or hide.

I do not care about those features though and would be glad if you found time to implement a proper taskbar overlay which could be something like:

    *green progressbar while playing
    *yellow progressbar while paused
*red whenever the console pops up if an error occured
*no progressbar when stopped normally / end of playlist

You’d be surprised how convenient this would be for someone using the keyboard / multimedia keys more than the mouse. It’s a waste to have to hover over the icon or switch to foobar every time just to see how far you are in a song.
Thank you for your hard work.

Seems to be working ok with RTM, to further what Devocalypse said: when it is playing it does only seem to show the album cover in Flip 3D (looks a bit odd, although the icon isn’t scaled up which is good I guess).

What about adding in a ‘Random’ shortcut option?

    Cheers for the great plugin.

On Win7 x64 RTM foobar no longer shows up in Flip 3D at all for me. Alt+Tab is great, Aero Peek is great, Win+Tab can’t find foobar.

    Hi there all!

I’m using 0.2.8, and foobar 0.9.6.9, and all the playing control buttons disappeared. Why?

+1 for the progress bar request!

Anyway, thanks for this plugin, its a really cool one! :)

Well, actually I didn’t get if foobar is shown in Flip 3D. Devocalypse stands for ugly icon, Mike M stands for album cover and Irish – for nothing at all. Whom should I believe? :)

About random button: you may use buttons from Columns UI, it has all five buttons. I’ll think about making it an option, but it would take some time.

About progress bar: ok, ok. If you like that annoying thing shining in taskbar all the time music is playing, there’ll be an option for that.

Beaver, don’t you eventually run foobar elevated? And is there any diagnostics in foobar’s console?

pieceofsummer: Thanks fot the tip! Yes, i’ve ran foobar elevated, and that was the problem, now solved. Thanks again!

I think I must correct myself as the “small ugly icon” I was talking about turned out to be the “No Album Art” image and I mistook it for the foobar2000 icon so it is like Mike M says.
Oh and thanks for agreeing to code the progress bar.
